Imran Khan’s defense of President Biden comes a month after he blamed the US for expecting Pakistan to "tidy up the wreck" it leaves abandons in Afghanistan
Pakistan PM Imran Khan protected US President Joe Biden’s decision for the botched pullout of American soldiers from Afghanistan, demanding that it was a “sensible” move and Biden is by and large "unjustifiably scrutinized" for it. "There was such a lot of unreasonable analysis of Biden, and what he did was the most sensible thing to do," PM. Khan told a Russian news channel on September 17.
Khan’s guard of the American President comes a month after he blamed the US for anticipating Pakistan to “clean up the mess” it leaves behind in Afghanistan. “Pakistan is just considered only to be useful in the context of somehow settling this mess which has been left behind after 20 years of attempting to find a military solution when there was no one,” Khan told reporters in Islamabad at the beginning of August before Kabul fell to the Taliban.
Khan himself has been a vocal pundit of Biden’s decision to pull troops from Afghan soil. In a meeting with The New York Times in late June, he blamed American withdrawal for reducing the influence Pakistan had over the Taliban. “Considering that the United States gave a date of withdrawal, from that point ahead, our influence decreased on the Taliban. Furthermore, the explanation is that the second the United States gave a date of leave, the Taliban essentially guaranteed triumphs. They’re imagining that they won the war. And so, Thus, hence, our capacity to impact them decreases the more grounded they feel," Khan affirmed.
